“Essentially the time spent in Design Prodigy has been nothing but fruitful. I see myself as a challenge seeker and this internship has been nothing short of it. The constant need to improve yourself pushes me to me limit and working here will give me a sense of fulfilment.”
Coming into an industry unfamiliar to me was something that I looked for when I first applied for Design Prodigy. However, the first few days of interactions with Marc and the full-time staff led to thoughts that I was unready for the upcoming challenge. Everything seemed so daunting and real when I was given my first task, to create an end-to-end webinar programme. It wasn’t just some broadcast but something that’ll will actually affect the brand name of Design Prodigy as a whole. As such, I knew I had to do an exceptional job and no amounts of mental preparation could have gotten me ready to face this big hurdle.
Challenges.
This hurdle came with multiple sets of challenges that included tight time constraints and the lack of coding knowledge. Thankfully I was able to overcome them within the datelines and meet the high requirements that was laid before me. This could not have been done without the scrutiny of Marc and the help of Qianwei and Ivan. The first few things I’ve learnt included the importance of time management, the need for fast learning and smart learning.
Fast and smart learning.
Fast learning meant that I had to pick up several technical skills such as learning marketing as a whole, to ensure that the branding is cohesive to our brand name and relevant to our target audiences; learning the key coding languages require for me to implement a working landing page and proper Google tag manager tags to allow efficient data collection. These languages included JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
Smart learning meant that I had to pick up the technical skills fast but also knowing and learning only the required skill set from the vast amounts of knowledge there actually is in each coding language or form of marketing.
Multidimensional.
I have also learnt to think in a multi-dimensional way. In reality, we cannot think in a one-dimensional way, we as 3D objects have to think beyond the first dimension and have a layered way of thinking to ensure that everything we do fits the requirements, brings about a positive change and also to have a feedback loops that will enable us to improve the system based on data collected. The multi-dimensional approach also includes incorporating several factors into one system or campaign. A good example would be that of a working landing page. An okay landing page will have information on the event and a form. But an excellent landing page will have multiple dimensions on how it will ensure its effectiveness.
Final thoughts.
Essentially the time spent in Design Prodigy has been nothing but fruitful. I see myself as a challenge seeker and this internship has been nothing short of it. The constant need to improve yourself pushes me to me limit and working here will give me a sense of fulfilment.
I’m forced to push boundaries daily and facing challenges and uncertainties in different fields. Given real life and working problems to solve, I have had to meet datelines that are crucial. I have not only learnt useful technical skills, I have also learnt the importance of time management, client relations and a higher level of thinking.
Design Prodigy promised an internship filled with challenges and polymathy and it has nothing been short of it. I have been given two different roles in the 6 months and both have been demanding in its own ways and will definitely teach every individual a lesson or two. I will definitely recommend anyone an internship with Design Prodigy if you are not weak-hearted and have a yearning to expand your horizons.
